Who is Jeffrey Dahmer?
Jeffrey Dahmer was an American serial killer who from 1978 to 1991, killed the lives of 17 males. In more than 13 years, Dahmer searched for mostly African American men, in gay bars, shopping malls and bus stops, lured them home with promises of money or sex, and gave them alcohol along with drugs before taking them to death. He also engaged in sexual acts with the corpses before dismembering and disposing of them, often keeping their skulls or genitals as remembrance. He often took pictures of his victims at various stages of the murder process, so that he could recall each illegal act later and relive the experience.
Dahmer was caught in 1991 and sentenced to 16 life sentences. He was killed by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver in 1994.
Childhood and family
Jeffrey Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is said that he was an energetic and happy child until the age of 4, when double hernia surgery appears to have brought about a change in him. He was disengaged, uptight, and largely friendless in his teen age.
Jeffery Dahmer says his compulsions toward necrophilia and homicide began around age 14, but it seems the breakdown of his parents’ marriage and their acerbic divorce a few years later may have been the catalyst.
Jeffery Dahmer committed his first murder a year after graduation. At his first murder, Dahmer’s drinking had spiraled out of control. He dropped out of Ohio State University after a quarter term and recently his father had remarried and insisted that he join the military. Dahmer joined in late December 1978 and was sent to Germany shortly thereafter.
His drinking problem continued, and in early 1981, the Army shot him. Although German authorities would later investigate possible links between Dahmer and killings that occurred in the area during that time, he is not believed to have taken any other victims while serving in the military.
After his discharge, Dahmer returned to his home in Ohio. His drinking problem continued when was living with his grandmother in Wisconsin and he was arrested the following summer for indecent exposure. Jeffery was arrested again in 1986, when he was accused by two boys about masturbating in front of them. He received a one-year probationary sentence.`
Jeffrey Dahmer House
After two decades of Dahmer death, probably in August 2012, it was reported that his childhood home is in Bath, Ohio, where he committed his first murder in 1978 and buried his victim’s remains— in the market.
In March 2016, Butler put the house up for rent for $8,000 for the week of the Republican National Convention. As of July 2017, according to Zillow.com, the home was no longer publicly traded.
Jeffrey Dahmer Victims
Dahmer’s first victim occurred just after he graduated from high school, in 1978, Dahmer killed a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks by hitting him on the head and choking him with a barbell.
Dahmer took his second victim, Steven Tuomi, in September 1987. They checked into a hotel room and drank, and Dahmer finally awoke to find Tuomi dead, with no memory of the previous night’s activity.
Dahmer killed two more victims at her grandmother’s house and she became tired of her grandson’s late nights and drunkenness — although she had no knowledge of her other activities — and she forced him off her home in 1988.
The police officers would have found the body of Dahmer’s 12th victim, Tony Hughes. Before finally being arrested, Dahmer killed four other men.
Dahmer killed 17 men from 1978 to 1991. He selected his victims very carefully on the fringes of society, who were often wandering or borderline criminals, making their disappearances less conspicuous and reducing the possibility of his capture. He induced them to his home with assurance of money or sex, then strangled them to death. He engaged in sexual acts with his victim’s bodies and kept body parts and photos as reminder.
Sexual Assault Charges
In September 1989, Jeffery Dahmer had an extremely fortunate escape: an encounter with a 13-year-old boy, Lao, resulted in allegations of sexual exploitation and second-degree sexual attack for Dahmer. He pleaded guilty, claiming the boy had appeared much older.
While awaiting sentencing in his sexual assault case, Dahmer put his grandmother’s basement back to gruesome use: he lured, strangled, photographed, dismembered, and disposed of Anthony Sears, an aspiring model in March 1989.
In an interview with CNN, Lionel Dahmer said that he wrote a letter to the court handing down the sentence, pleading for psychological help in front of his son’s parole. He was granted an early release by the judge, with only 10 months of his sentence. He lived with her grandmother after his release.
